The oldest documentation of our complex on Sebastiansplatz 9 originates from the year 1572 and carries the inscription: “The Saint Sebastians Chapel at the Ebersberg monastery gardens with built-on vestry”. The Benedictine Monks of Ebersberg were the caretakers of the chapel, as this was their designated place of residence in the city.
After secularization, the Hubers, a family of innkeepers gained proprietorship of the abandoned chapel and opened the tavern Blauer Bock in 1814, which primarily served the coachmen from the neighboring markets.
During the frequent changes in ownership, the tavern was supplanted by an inn and the inn then became a guesthouse which later became a hotel.
The hotel was founded in 1914 by the Schreiber family and with the generation to follow it was taken over by the Ruhland family who ran the hotel for over eighty years.
In 2002, Gewofag, Munich’s residential building company rich in tradition, took over ownership of the hotel. Since 2008 the proprietors of the renowned restaurant Blauer Bock have been operating the hotel. |
