The oldest image depicting the set of houses at Sebastiansplatz 9 dates back from the year 1572. It is captioned “Saint Sebastian’s Chapel with built-on vestry at the Ebersberg monastery yard.” The Benedictine of Ebersberg were the landlords, as this set of houses served as their residence in the city.

After secularisation, the Huber family, with a tradition as publicans, assumed ownership of the open building and started in 1814 the pub “Blauer Bock”. It became the favourite venue of the waggoners from next door’s market.

Nowadays

During the course of the centuries, ownership of the house changed hands frequently. The pub turned into an inn, and the inn turned into a hotel. In 1914 the Schreiber family bought the house. They kept it for many generations, and ran the hotel for decades.

In the year 2002 the house was sold to the Gewofag, Munich’s residential building company steeped in tradition. Since 2008 the hotel is managed by the proprietors of the renowned gourmet-restaurant “Blauer Bock”, which is located in the same building. The hotel is still operated by its family-style with a personal touch, following the long-standing tradition.
